I'm an illustrator, writer, and musician (or phonometrician, to use a term coined by Erik Satie). This is my new album of ambient music, Physics for Squirrels. It was created over several months in 2020, primarily using the Csound audio programming language.

The general intent of this music is to explore new approaches to sound creation while also moving the listener to a calmer state of mind. Most of the pieces on this album began as experiments with different aspects of the Csound language, which were then expanded into full tracks. For instance, Skyline began as an experiment with wave-terrain synthesis. Resilience and Rustic began as different ways to process recordings of a children's accordion. Other tracks on this album (in particular Blue and Winter Garden) were experiments in creating new waveforms based on the shapes of leaves and trees.

Most of this music was synthesized entirely using Csound. This is a list of other sounds that were used on individual tracks:
+ Grass and Sky: some subtle Hammond organ in the background, recorded off of a rescued Hammond E-100.
+ Moonrise: Hammond organ.
+ Far From Home: Hammond organ.
+ Swimming In A Whirlpool: fountain.
+ Resilience: processed accordion, Hammond organ, sound of aluminum foil strips being shaken in a cardboard box.
+ Winter Garden: processed accordion.
+ Warmth: aluminum foil, Hammond organ, handbells.
+ Rustic: processed accordion, Hammond organ, lap harp.
